TN native. In nature the Pin Oak grows in wet areas which may be inundated with water for a few months. This red oak was middle TN’s most planted yard shade tree from 1965 to 1990+-. Its red oak looking leaves persist on the tree all winter sometimes, in their brown/dead state. Conical and neat in youth with limbs that tend to sag toward the ground over time.
