During times of uncertainty, it is important to connect with others to let them know that they are not alone. We live in a world with many different sources of communication, but we often times forget about the simplicity of putting pen to paper and writing a personalized letter. We realize that seniors are limited to who they can see at this time, and we want to create opportunities for them to connect with others, to let them know that they are not alone.
Are you interested in being a Pen Pal to a senior? If so, we have created a way to get you connected!
Who can participate? Children, adults, seniors... Anyone! All ages are welcome. You do not need to be a Goodlettsville Resident to participate.
What do I need to do to get started? Click here to complete a Pen Pal Request Form. Your pen pal information will be emailed to you after you and your senior pals are matched.
Please note you need to supply the materials as you will be doing this from your location and mailing the letters yourself. You are welcome to draw a picture, write a letter asking what their hobbies are, talk about what you’re doing to keep busy, etc. and remember to be positive. Your pen pals appreciate it more than you can imagine while everyone is at home.
Please share photos throughout the process with Goodlettsville Parks and Recreation on our Facebook, use the hashtag #gvillepenpals, or send us photos via email (email@example.com). Submit one form per person.
