The mission for the codes function is: to enforce the different aspects of the municipal code that deal with building, zoning, signs, and general health and welfare. The tasks and responsibilities include:
Issue building permits and make required inspections. All permits except single family residential require the submission and approval of a site plan. An average of nine inspections is required;
Issue sign permits and make required inspections;
Inspect all buildings open to the public for compliance with the life safety and fire code;
Enforce provisions of the zoning ordinance. Many zoning regulations are checked during routine building inspections;
Enforce various sections of the Municipal Code as required. This includes the titles that relate to trash, litter, junk cars and deteriorating buildings; and
Assign street numbers to lots and buildings as required.
The City of Goodlettsville is currently enforcing all 2006 International Building Codes and NFPA 1 and 101 Fire Codes.
