Smoke detectors

  • Install one in every bedroom
  • Test the first day of the month
  • Install one on every floor
  • Keep bedroom doors closed to slow the spread of fire
Kitchens
  • Do not leave cooking food unattended
  • Turn off burners if you leave
  • Do not cook in loose sleeves
  • Turn pan handles away from the front of the stove
Smoking
  • Never leave cigarettes, pipes or cigars unattended
  • Use large ashtrays on stable surfaces such as a table
  • Never smoke in bed
Stop, Drop and Roll
  • If your clothes catch on fire, remembering these three words could save your life
