Fire Department
Message for Goodlettsville Residents Living in Sumner County

During the month of April 2010, the Goodlettsville Fire department will be conducting fire hydrant tests in the Sumner county portion of Goodlettsville. These tests will consist of the firefighters inspecting the hydrant for maintenance issues, assuring adequate clearance of obstructions and flowing water from hydrants. The purposes of these tests are to assure adequate water flow and operational hydrants to use in fire suppression activities.

These tests will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday. If you notice the firefighters in your neighborhood conducting these tests, you may wish to not utilize your dishwasher or laundry washing machine during this time. The water flows could cause some settled mud or rust to enter into your water lines. While this occurrence would be rare it would be best to be safe and open your kitchen or bathroom faucets to assure clear water is flowing prior to using the water for cleaning purposes.

Also assure that any hydrants on your property have a clearance of three feet in all directions around the hydrant. This includes any vegetation, fence, growth, posts, vehicles, trash etc...
