Residential Solid Waste Drop-Off and Recycling Center
General Information

City of Goodlettsville residents may drop off residential solid waste, tree limbs, bagged grass and/or leaves and recyclables at the Public Works Service Center - Connell Street entrance. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Persons dropping off materials must provide identification showing they reside within the corporate city limits of Goodlettsville. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid driver’s license indicating an address within the corporate city limits, a current utility bill showing a corporate city address which matches the name on your valid driver’s license, or for a new resident, the receipt provided to you showing establishment of new service (this receipt is valid for 30 days after issuance). For new residents, you can change your driver’s license address with the State of Tennessee.

Goodlettsville residents are encouraged to recycle.

There is no charge for residents to use the drop-off location.  No commerical drop-off is allowed.



Items Acceptable for Recycling

Cardboard 
Corrugated boxes, cereal boxes, any box that tears gray or brown, and brown paper grocery bags. All boxes should be flattened before being deposited for collection.

Plastic
Bottles marked #1 through #7. Includes milk jugs, soda bottles, windshield washer fluid bottles, bleach bottles, detergent containers, etc.

Aluminum
Beverage cans, foil and pie pans, etc.

Steel / Tin Cans 
Food and beverage cans, pet food cans, steel lids, empty aerosol cans. Labels can be left on.

Glass
Bottles and jars which are separated by color - clear, brown, or green. Please recycle the lids also.

Paper
Any type of paper or paperboard that tears. Colored or white paper, manila folders, newspaper, magazines, books, envelopes, computer paper, fax paper, post-it notes, shredded paper, etc.

Electronics
Computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, stereos, speakers, telephones, cell phones, printers, fax machines, radios.

Items Not Acceptable for Recycling or Disposal

Household Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste is defined as corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive material used in the home, vehicle, garden and lawn that can contaminate soil and water when dumped along with non-toxic waste.

Household Cleaners
Drain openers, oven cleaners, wood and metal cleaners and polishes, toilet bowl cleaners and disinfectants.

Automotive Products
Oil and fuel additives, grease and rust solvents; air conditioning refrigerants, starter fluids, body putty, antifreeze, waste oil, carburetor and fuel injector cleaners.

Lawn and Garden Products
Herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and wood preservatives; paint thinner, paint, paint strippers and removers, and adhesives.

Miscellaneous/Carpentry/Remodeling/Chemicals
Batteries, fingernail polish remover, pool chemicals, photo processing chemicals, medicines, electrical capacitors, pressurized gas bottles, gas tanks and gas cans commercial or industrial waste, barrels, tires, wire or fencing, steel gutters, infectious waste, combustible materials, rock, dirt, brick, masonry, building and decking materials, roofing material (rolled or shingles), carpet or padding, and crossties.



Goodwill Donation Trailer

Goodwill of Middle Tennessee has placed a donation trailer at the entrance to the Public Works residential solid waste drop-off and recycling center. This trailer is operated independently from the City of Goodlettsville by Goodwill.

Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise posted.

Items Goodwill can and cannot accept are noted at the collection trailer.

Accepts construction and other materials.
Household hazardous waste is collected one day each year. Sumner County residents should save their household hazardous waste and dispose of it at the designated Sumner County collection site. Call (615) 452-1114 to obtain collection date information.
