
Captain Ken Jenkins

Ken has been with the Goodlettsville Police Department since 1975. He is a graduate of Goodlettsville High School and has an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement from Austin Peay State University and is a graduate of the Northwestern University, School of Staff and Command. As the Field Operations Captain he oversees the general operation of the Patrol Division and as Captain of Support services oversees the general operation of the Communications and Records Division.
He is an accident reconstructionist and is in charge of the investigation of all fatal motor vehicle accidents. Furthermore, he reviews all accidents investigated by the department before they are sent to the Tennessee Department of Safety.
Ken is also the Reporting Agency Contact to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. This involves assuring compliance with the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS) and reporting these incidents to the TBI, who then in turn reports those statistics to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Being familiar with both the Computer Aided Dispatch System and the Records Management System, Ken does the analytical and statistical computer research for the Department.
Additionally, Ken is involved with the application and management of the Police Department Grants.
Ken has, in the past, served as the Department Training Officer and is a POST certified training officer, with specialization in accident investigation, patrol tactics and emergency vehicle operations. He has taught as an adjunct instructor for Northwester University’s Traffic Institute and has been a visiting instructor at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy.
